Alana, you’re an ignorant person. You don’t realize how racist you actually are. This site is based on stereotypes. No one needs a “guide” to dating anyone of a different race. That’s the exact problem with our society. People are judged by their race, and not by their personalities and/or character.
Perhaps someone should create a site dedicated to dating White girls. The site will offer advice on how to deal with their (stereotypical) personalities. It will acknowledge how most are brainless, spoiled, thinking that they’re God’s gift to earth, with a complete sense of entitlement.

Woman, in my perspective, people are naturally attracted to their own race so when someone of a specific race prefers an opposite gender of a different one, it’s cause they generalize one race and believe that men of one race have something that men of others don’t have, such as in your case Alana. Today’s pop culture if full of trash and stereotypical bull-shit that dumb people fall for as a conclusion to all this.

I have a few questions for you Alana:
- are you ever disappointed when you see a good looking black man dating a woman of his own race. (I say this because I know a lot of white girls who feel they are superior to black women)
- I’ve noticed that white girls who date black guys usually dress, talk and act “urban”. I’m not referring to the handful of rich/famous/upperclass white girls but the everyday white girls. Why is that? Can’t they just be themselves while still dating black guys?

The less you look and see color in your attempt to start the conversation the less likely she will as well! As far as being able to tell if a WW or any women is attracted to you is simple and easy. Eye Contact, Full Body Stares as well as maybe some unnecessary small talk! She may be just as nervous as you but if you stay confident, it should be easy to get the conversation going. As far as where I would go to meet more of an “open- minded” crowd, I would suggest a Happy Hour in a popular area. Uptown in Dallas is a great place in my area during Happy Hour to meet local singles! Also there are allot of interracial dating sites online. That may be better route to go for FIRST time experience, since these sites help with the initial “breaking of the ice”

1) I like suburban WW (white women that carry themselves in a manner that seems they just came from the corporate meeting or they are from the suburbs. intellectuals …example rachel maddow, jennifer anniston, robin meade and the like ) they usually dont hang out at bars or whatever…where would they go and how likely would they date a BM ?
2) when will you give advice to the BM on such issues as where to meet GOOD women and such. It seems WW or kind of skittish when a BM does the direct approach at a department/grocery store.

This is where “local events” come in handy! get your local newspaper and check to see what events will be held in your area! Art galleries, functions, wine tasting events are always popular or try some sort of animal event as well! Also local malls is a GREAT idea and walmart since everyone has to shop ya know! Here in Dallas Ive found that sporting events like events at the new Cowboys Stadium have been a great place to meet an mature crowd! So maybe try some sporting events in your area! Also you can keep an eye out for any good music artists that you enjoy listening to that are coming to your area and try meeting women there! Try a well known restaurant chain in your area (Glorias & Blackfinn) that cater to more of the CORPRATE happy hour on lunch’s!
As far as WHERE or HOW to meet a GOOD women is still unknown sweetie! lol but being more open minded and trying new things is a good start you will not ALWAYS be successful but you just have to keep trying! This is very sad. This is actually a very racist site. Just because this woman dates black men does not mean she is immune from being so. As a black man, who is a successful trial attorney, this is the kind of woman I try to avoid. She reiterates many stereotypes that would make the folks on Stormfront look like saints.
For instance in her section on how to cook for a black man she lists soul food (fried chicken and greens) as the sole example what black men eat. How is this not the same think as what racist kkk members say? I mean you can’t get more stereotypical than that. In addition, she seems to think that black men go around saying the n word all the time and what about the Aunt Jemima ghetto black woman wagging her finger. Indeed, she likely only dates the caricature of what society thinks a black man is. Most professional black men abhor the use of this word even amongst each other. I actually wouldn’t be suprised if she called an educated black man a “white boy”

I am a professor of sociology at the University of Oregon. I was doing research (as professors always do) and was drawn to this blog through the key words that I’ve typed.
To Former…: You are surly generalizing here. First off, you surely cannot say that every girl likes the bad boy type. A white girl that likes the hip hop culture will more likely be drawn to that bad boy type for instance but not the average caucasian girl that’s drawn to more of a white culture and listens to rock or country as one example. Without forgetting that bad boys are found in all races and not only through hip hop and black culture. People tend to be attracted to similarities. The theory of how opposites attract is more of a pseudo-science. Urban middle class white folks (men and women) can be more open to black culture since they grow up living closer to it compared to white subburbian or country oriented white folks.
It also has to do with the socio-cultural aspect. There are more white men than white women who date outside their race simply because women tend to be more comfortable dating within their own socio-cultural background while men can have an easier time adapting to this type of difference. If a woman dates outside her race, it can be because they could have grown up in multicultural areas and are comfortable with it. Love also plays a role. Another explanation could be that some black people live in white suburbs for instance (some people call them “oreos”, i.e. a person of colour living a white culture and lifestyle).
As for black/white couples, there are more black men/white women ones, because men are still today, the bigger initiators in relationships.
Now does social class play a role in mixed-cultural relationships? Yes, but simply because of how upper-middle class folks tend to live in the same areas which don’t include as many mixtures, socially and racially speaking. Racism can be a factor and/or respect of tradition can be another, but that is explainable as differences can create disputes. And again, we can bring up the fact that the comfort within your own socio-cultural background plays a role in your relationship interests.
I can agree with Alana that yes, some women do go for bad boys at a younger age and then will realize that they need more of a straight man that they can trust, and by saying that, I do not exclude any race. Although again Alana, saying that every girl is drawn to the bad boy type is not accurate. I can actually name several girls who would be labelled as “cool” but who are dating ambitious guys. A person’s conscience also plays a big role in his/her attraction to someone. A bad girl can often go for a bad boy and good girl with good boy, but the reverse happens as well.

This is really an interesting case study about what people are comfortable with. I really would suggest you turn this into a book for anthropological posterity. Kara I know how hard it can be being in an interracial relationship when one or more parent doesnt approve. You have to remember that many older people are stuck in their ways. They are from previous generations that were taught wrongly that race matters and so its hard for them to give up this notion. It sounds like although your mom loves you, she falls into this category. Keeping secrets from parents is usually never a good thing. If your boyfriend is truly good to you, and your grades and behavior HAVEN’T changed, then you should sit down with your mom and tell her the truth. See if your older sister will be their with you so you can have strength and courage. The key is that she doesnt have any negative examples to discourage your relationship like say your grades have been dropping recently, so I bet its this new “boyfriend” causing the problem. If she doesnt have anything to discourage it, and she sees how happy he makes you, then a loving mom will eventually get on board. Also I dont know if you have been having Trent pick you up, then meeting up later with Christian, but what if Trent begins to get real feelings for you. You dont want the guy playing your pretend boyfriend to get hurt in this situation. Since you have known Christian for so long I think she will understand even though it may be tough for her to swallow at 1st.

Hello Alana. I feel very compelled to write in after having read and scanned through this message board as it pertains to your site. I appreciate your blog for what it is, I enjoy and I’m entertained by it, informed by it, and I agree with your stance on a number of subjects or topics represented within it. I too believe in the freedom to choose my mate, or my lover, or my friend, etc, and do not feel the need or desperation to stick to only my own specific ethnic class as some seem to adhere to and profess to others. I favor the ability for anyone to indulge in interracial relationships and believe that it is no one else’s business nor their right to attack any person who chooses such a relationship.
But it is very apparent that racism against people of African-American ethnicity especially, but also other similarly related races, is extremely live and well in the USA. A first world nation and power such as the United States should be more knowledgeable, understanding and logical then some of it’s citizens here have seemingly embraced in this message board.
